WEATHER WARNING: Strong storms on the way

WHITLEY COUNTY (Aug. 19, 2014) -- Whitley County Emergency Management Agency officials have offered a weather update for the area.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed almost the entire state of Indiana under a Slight Risk for Severe Weather for today. Currently strong storms are moving into the western part of Illinois and are expected to continue to move eastward.

There is an expectation of an outbreak of strong to severe storms to affect our region mid-to-late afternoon. The threat with these storms is large hail and damaging winds.

"With any severe weather system, we never rule out the potential for an isolated tornado," said Charles Heflin, EMA director. "We'll be monitoring the situation throughout the day and posting updates as storm conditions begin to develop and post updates as necessary."
