WEEKEND CRASHES: Two motorcycle accidents end in two fatalities

June 25, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — A 2012 Columbia City High School graduate and a Wolf Lake man were killed in two separate motorcycle accidents over the weekend.

Ashley Storm, 19, of Columbia City, was a passenger on a motorcycle when it crashed into a pick-up truck at the Hillegas and Goshen Road intersection in Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon.

According to police, around 11:30 a.m. a truck headed north on Hillegas Road turned in front of the motorcycle. The bike was driven by 19-year-old Jacob Bunker, who remains in serious condition.

Storm was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died from her injuries, police believe she wasn’t wearing a helmet.

The Wolf Lake man, David Sible, 58, was also believed to not be wearing a helmet. Sible was northbound on U.S. 33 near Churubusco on his motorcycle around 6:15 p.m. Friday and rear-ended a sport utility vehicle driven by Ellen Britland.

Britland was stopped to make a left turn onto CR 550 N. when Sible hit the back of her vehicle. Sible was pronounced dead at the scene.
