Weigold sustains reign as council president

January 31, 2014

Dan Weigold

COLUMBIA CITY — Councilman Dan Weigold was reappointed to serve his third year as president of the Columbia City Common Council.

A vote is held every January for the position, and Weigold was reappointed by unanimous vote.

Weigold is currently serving his seventh year as councilman, and said he has learned a lot and enjoys his time serving the city.

“I’m still Dan — just a common guy,” Weigold said. “It’s neat being part of something bigger than yourself.”

If for some reason Mayor Ryan Daniel is unable to do his job, as council president Weigold is second in command.

“It’s a unique position,” Weigold said.

“It gives you a different perspective of how the city is run.

“I hope that never happens. But if it does, I feel comfortable we could still make this place run.”
