The winner of South Whitley’s Got Talent hands down was Ivory West.
The competition concluded Thursday evening at the South Whitley Public Library after a week off for a winter storm.
The competition was tough, with the audience getting to be a part of selecting the winner. The three official judges, whose votes had a bit more pull, were Nate Myers, Teresa Smith and Renee Wozniak Anderson.
West performed “Come Together” by The Beatles to earn the title.
West’s closest competitors were both dancers. Kiara Galloway performed a freestyle dance routine to “Replay” to win second place and De Shockney took third place with her clogging routine.
The evening seemed to be fraught with mishaps as one of the hosts of the event, Jacob Ray was late due to locking his keys in his car and Shockney had to return home for the correct CD to accompany her performance.
Ray’s co-host Jamie Wozniak used his misfortune against him during their repartee between acts. The delays were not unpleasant, though as West and Galloway performed some impromptu bits to the delight of the audience.
West performed a touching song of her own about the bird on her windowsill. Galloway gave Ray a quick lesson in dance, commenting that he “really can’t dance.”
Then, as the audience cast their votes, Ray and Wozniak offered a bit of funny improv with audience participation.
The event was sponsored by the Teen Advisory Board at the South Whitley Public Library.
