What did you do on your snow day?

February 2, 2011

WHITLEY COUNTY – A level 1 snow emergency is in effect until 6 p.m. today which calls for people to stay home to allow crews to clear the roads.
So what do you do when you’re forced to stay home for a day?
Some hunker down and enjoy the enforced down time. Others make use of the time to be productive on upcoming projects.
Ada Mae Rebman of South Whitley posted on Facebook that she is busy baking for this Saturday’s Vend Her Happy at the South Whitley Public Library.
“I will have cherry pie, peach, black raspberry, rhubarb, pecan, old-fashioned cream, apricot, black raspberry cream, cherry crumb and apple (pies),” Rebman said. “Also Valentine cookies, Whoopie Pie Cookies, frosted sugar cookies, angel food cakes, cinnamon rolls and more.” Vend Her Happy runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Rebman’s daughter, Vickie Smith of South Whitley chose to settle in with her family watching “Ma and Pa Kettle” movies and looking at recipes.
But what did you do?
Let us know what you did to pass the time on your forced snow day by sending an e-mail to or posting a comment after this article.
We’ll give a complete story about Whitley County’s snow day adventures in an upcoming edition of The Post & Mail and post it on this website.
