May 22, 2014

Whitko’s baseball team picked up a Three Rivers Conference victory Wednesday night over Rochester, 3-2.

The Wildcats faced a 1-0 deficit in the first inning, and went on a three-inning drought before finally scoring in the fourth frame to tie the score.

Wildcat Jared Craft reached home plate on a single by Ethan Nicodemus.
Rochester fired back in the bottom of the fifth inning to take back the lead, 2-1.

Whitko wasn’t ready to give up the game, however, scoring two runs in the seventh to take the 3-2 win.

Tanner Hughes and Ethan Nicodemus scored on a single by Avery Robbins to seal the game.

Tanner Gaff was the winning pitcher. He spent all seven innings on the mound, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out six.

Leading the Wildcats from the plate were Robbins (2-for-3, two RBIs) and Ethan Nicodemus (1-for-3, one run, one RBI).

The Wildcats are 16-9 and 4-3 in the TRC.
