Whitko baseball grabs two wins

SOUTH WHITLEY —Whitko’s baseball team picked up two wins Friday and Saturday, improving its record to 15-5.

The Wildcats beat sectional foe Bellmont Friday by a 7-2 score, and topped Triton 16-6 on Saturday.

Against Bellmont, Wyatt Wolf had a stand-out performance. Wolf pitched six innings, striking out five while giving up two earned runs and six hits.

Wolf also batted 2-for-3, scoring a run and adding an RBI for the first run of the game.

Wolf sent teammate Alex Stoddard home after hitting a double in the opening inning.

Stoddard batted 2-for-4 with a run, RBI and stolen base.

Ryan Weigold popped up a sacrifice fly to send Wolf home, giving Whitko a 2-0 lead that carried through the fourth frame.
