Whitko, Col. City compete at Northrop golf invitational

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City and Whitko competed at the Northrop golf invitational Saturday, against strong Huntington North and East Noble teams.

Out of six teams, the Eagles placed fourth and Whitko came in sixth. Huntington North and East Noble pulled away from the pack with sub 330 scores.

Northrop had a 142, six strokes under Columbia City (348). Wawasee was close behind shooting a 350, and Whitko rounded off the match with a 377.

Huntington North also had the medalist, Jordan Sweet, who shot a 75 on the 18-hole par 71 Colonial Oaks course.

Columbia City’s Trent Murphy was eight strokes behind the match leader with an 83.

The Eagles’ No. 2 player was Max Dryer, who shot an 87. Drew Burnsworth and Dustin Parrett scored 88 and 89, respectively. Derek Phillbee rounded off Columbia City’s team with a 90.
