WHITKO: Commissioners conduct meeting for students

September 19, 2012

SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitley County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting in a different environment Monday, as business was conducted in front of students from Whitko High School.
“I enjoy holding the meetings for the students,” said County Commissioner Don Amber. “We do this for the kids’ edification.”
Amber said the commissioners occasionally held meetings at the South Whitley Library, but then it was suggested to move it to the school for students, particularly those attending a government class.
“We have done this for three years, and I think it’s something we’ll continue to do,” said Amber.
The next regularly-scheduled commissioners meeting will be held at Churubusco Jr.-Sr. High School Oct. 15 at 1:20 p.m.
Regular meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month at the Whitley County Government Center, located on Van Buren Street in Columbia City.
