WHITKO CONSTRUCTION: District moves ahead with plans

July 26, 2013

PIERCETON — Whitko Community school board members and administration breathed a sigh of relief as the date of July 18 came and went.

That was the deadline in a 30-day window in which objections to the $22 million projected construction plan could be voiced.

Whitko Community School Corporation held a 1028 hearing June 17 to explain in detail the desire of the district to build a new Pierceton Elementary School and extensively renovate South Whitley Elementary School.

“WCSC announces its plans to move forward with the renovations and construction plans,” said Superintendent Steve Clason in a press release released this week. “The board held the hearing and we waited the 30 days for any objections. Now, with those days passed, the community will begin the planning phase of the project.”
