SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Whitkoâ€™s junior varsity softball team is 11-0 for the season, and four of those wins came this week.
The Lady Wildcats won four straight days, Monday through Thursday, defeating Huntington North, North Miami, Central Noble and Carroll, respectively.
Monday, Whitko downed Huntington North, 15-5. Adrianna Holst struck out five while picking up the win in the circle for the Lady â€˜Cats. Whitko had six extra-base hits in the game.
Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats pounded TRC-rival North Miami 14-3. Tori Silveus got the win for Whitko, tossing nine strikeouts. Emily Hughes and Emily Day each had a double and a triple in the win, and Ashlynn Robbins hit a double.
Wednesday, Whitko defeated Central Noble 9-3. Holst got the pitching win and Silveus also contributed 11 strikeouts. Hughes and Robbins each pounded out a double for the Lady Wildcats.
In varsity action Whitko lost on the softball diamond Wednesday to Manchester, 11-3.
A six-run fourth inning was the key for Manchester. Sydney Lancaster, Hannah Himes and Jenny Brown each had two hits for Whitko.
Pitching-wise, Hannah Coki and Aly Nicodemus combined for six strikeouts, with Coki taking the loss.
Whitkoâ€™s record after the game was 2-12 and 0-3 in the TRC. The Lady Wildcats next play Monday in a doubleheader at home against Northfield.View more articles in:
