SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Although not undefeated anymore, Whitkoâ€™s junior varsity softball team continues to roll through its schedule.
A double-header split with Columbia City Saturday tagged Whitko with its first loss, but the Lady Wildcats have earned two wins so far this week, scoring 29 runs in the process while only allowing two from their opponents.
Whitko beat Triton 18-1 Tuesday and defeated Wabash 11-1 Wednesday. The Lady Wildcats now have a seasonal record of 14-1. Against Triton, Tori Silveus got the win pitching, striking out five. At the plate, Silveus had a triple and four RBIs. Whitney Marsh and Emily Day both doubled, with Marsh knocking in three runs as well.
In the defeat of Wabash, a five-run first inning put Whitko on top for good. As a team, the Lady Wildcats stole 15 bases.
Adrianna Holst was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts. Shelby Martin had three hits. Silveus and Marsh both doubled and Emily Hughes hit a triple. Whitkoâ€™s JV team will be at Tippecanoe Valley tonight.View more articles in:
