SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s junior varsity team played host to its volleyball tournament Saturday.

Other participating schools were Central Noble, North Miami and Tippecanoe Valley.

The four teams played each other, with the team recording the most wins being declared the champion.

North Miami won the overall title with a 4-2 record. Central Noble finished 4-3 followed by Tippy Valley 3-4 and Whitko 3-5.

For the Wildcats, they had played Central Noble and North Miami earlier in the season and defeated both squads.

“When we played them before, and it was very competitive with three sets being played, so I knew this tournament would be a good test for us,” said JV Head Coach Vanessa Hart. The one team Whitko was seeing for the first time was Tippy Valley—the only team it defeated.

Whitko was playing short handed with four starters out due to injury or sickness.

“It was homecoming week, and we had three players get hurt playing in the powder-puff game,” said Hart.
