Whitko, Marion split baseball opener
SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s baseball team finally opened its season, after difficult weather conditions, Saturday and split a doubleheader with Marion.The Wildcats dropped game one by a margin of 9-5, but came back to capture game two by a 10-9 score.A home run proved to be the winning blast in game two. Tanner Gaff hit a solo shot to break a 9-9 tie and give the Wildcats the eventual win.“Tanner Gaff made a great hitting adjustment on his solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning that proved to be the game winner,” Whitko Head Coach Erik Hisner said.A big fifth inning was the key to victory for the Wildcats in game two.
