November 21, 2013

PIERCETON — Teachers do more than simply grade papers, assign homework and issue pop quizzes.

Interacting with students in such a way that develops leadership, confidence and healthy self esteem are some of the responsibilities that come with heading up a classroom.

At Whitko Community School Corporation’s Board of Trustees meeting Monday night, one particular teacher was recognized for her positive impact in both students and teachers.

Sheila Gillett, a business teacher at Whitko Middle School, was named Middle School Teacher of the Year.

“She is great with kids and with staff members,” said WCSC Superintendent Steve Clason.
