Whitko softball defeats Heritage

MONROEVILLE — Whitko’s softball team traveled to Heritage Saturday and edged out the Lady Patriots.

After six scoreless innings, the Lady Wildcats scored two runs in the seventh frame to win 2-0 over Heritage.

Chloe Nestle and Aly Nicodemus grabbed the Lady ’Cat’s lone runs. Though Nestle and Nicodemus were the only two to reach home plate, Whitko recorded seven hits from five different players.

Audra Day went 2-for-4 from the plate, including a double. Nestle also had two hits in three at-bats to go with her run.

Hannah Himes, Cassie Jones and Lynsi Hicks also recorded hits for the Lady Wildcats. Emily Weigold led the team with five put-outs, followed by Hicks with three.

Karissa Olinske had two assists, and pitched all seven innings.
She had nine strike-outs, one walk and gave up two hits in 27 at-bats.
