Whitko splits 3-way

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko's girls track team split a three-way meet with North Miami and Tippecanoe Valley Monday night.

Whitko placed second to Tippy Valley, which had 81 points, but defeated North Miami, which finished with 17 points. Whitko tallied 66 points on the night.

The Lady Wildcats had several first-place finishes, led by the Craig sisters.

Reghan Craig placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18 seconds. Cagney Craig, her older sister, took first in the pole vault with a height of 7 feet.

Regan also came in second in the long jump at 13 feet, 7 inches.
Both sisters were on the second-place 400-meter relay team, along with Taylor Zwick and Holly Frantz.

Frantz won the 800-meter run, and Zwick took third in the discus with a throw of 89 feet, 1 inch.

Stephanie Wheeler came in fourth behind Zwick at 85-2.

Also placing in the throws was Dana Hobbs, who took fourth in the shot put.

Whitko swept the pole valut, with Elizabeth Hardesty taking second behind Cagney Craig. Sydney Sims came in third in the event for the Lady ’Cats.

Brigit Nemitz won the 1,600-meter run and Elain Warner came in third.
Miranda Terrill won the high jump with a leap of 5-2, and placed third in the 400-meter dash.

Terrill was also the first leg of the winning 1,600-meter relay team of Nemitz, Frantz and Josie Sparks.

Michelle Kelsey won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:53.
