COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s Economic Development Corporation welcomed a new marketing project manager last week.

Katie Rethlake, a 2012 graduate of IUPUI and granddaughter of county commissioner Tom Rethlake, began working in the area with Schrader Real Estate & Auction Co., Inc. last year.

At the EDC, she will focus on updating the website for the development corporation and other communication projects.

“Our marketing and communications capabilities are critical to our vision of the EDC as a focal point for planning, building, and equipping businesses in Whitley County,“ said EDC President Alan Tio. “I look forward to working with Katie to further develop the tools we have available to reach business and community leaders.”

For Rethlake, she is happy to be working in her hometown.

“I was excited to come back from Indy, to come back to where I grew up and get involved with the community,” she said.
