WHITLEY ON THE MOVE: Landscaping leaps ahead with town’s help

May 29, 2013

SOUTH WHITLEY — With recent events deemed a success by its leaders, Whitley On The Move (WOTM) is continuing with plans to revitalize South Whitley.

A spring clean up day was held last weekend to get town residents engaged in picking up trash, washing windows and tidying the town park. Whitley On The Move is made up of South Whitley residents who have worked together in several committees focused on different aspects of the town.

One committee exists to enhance the town’s appearance and has put shovel to dirt in order to freshen the landscaping around the gazebo located off of Front Street. Representatives from WOTM appeared before the South Whitley Town Council last night to update members on the progress of the new landscaping.

Although $200 worth of plants had been donated to the project and another $326 was raised by the committee, representatives asked the council to consider financially helping the landscaping efforts.
