WHOLE FAMILY DEAL: CCPD’s Stoffel begins as first new officer in a decade

April 4, 2013

Jonathan Stoffel

COLUMBIA CITY — Though Columbia City’s first hire in 10 years may be new to the department, police work is nothing new for Jonathan Stoffel.

Stoffel, 22, has been surrounded by law enforcement work for much of his life.

His father, Terry Stoffel, is currently serving his first term as Huntington County’s Sheriff. Terry was a Huntington City Police officer for 20 years, and was the chief for eight years.

Jonathan’s sister, Whitney, has spent the last six years as a Huntington PD officer.

His late mother, Vicki, who passed away from cancer six months ago, was the executive assistant for Huntington County’s prosecutor.

“It’s a whole family deal,” Stoffel said.

His cousin, Don Stoffel, is an Indiana State Trooper out of the Fort Wayne Post.

Jonathan said he’s wanted to be a police officer for as long as he can remember.
