WHOLE HEALTH: Green thumbs prep garden for winter
COLUMBIA CITY — A fall festival of a different kind was held Saturday as volunteers gathered at the Whole Health Wellness Center, Inc. to prep its community garden for winter. The Whole Health Wellness Center, Inc., located at 1065 W. CR 150 N. in Columbia City, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a impact in the community by “encouraging others and restoring lives.” According to Aimee Clark, the center’s president, the group planted 1,000 garlic cloves, planted and covered numerous strawberry plants, and saved sunflower seeds from plants that grew this summer. All the hard work was completed before volunteers took a break for some festival fun.Face painting, hayrides, crafts and more were made available to children of all ages at no cost. The festival was one component the center has utilized to educate the public on its initiative.“We serve as a resource to provide education, tools and the access needed to live a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle for both children and adults,” said Clark. “Our focus is on the overall health and wellness of our community.”No matter what the skill level, garden enthusiasts and green thumbs of all kinds are welcome to participate in the center’s work.To read the rest of this story, see the Oct. 28 issue of The Post and Mail.
