Wildcats beat Manchester at Parkview Field, 13-9

May 8, 2014

Whitko first baseman Hunter Sroufe makes a play against Manchester at Parkview Field Wednesday night.

Not many baseball players get the opportunity to play ball on a professional field.

However, Parkview Field has opened its doors to several high school teams this season, including Whitko.

The Wildcats took on Three Rivers Conference foe Manchester at Parkview Field Wednesday night, coming away with a 13-9 win.

“It was a fun experience,” said Whitko Head Coach Erik Hisner. “The guys have been looking forward to this since we got the news that we were going to be able to play there.”

Despite the nerves of playing on the big field, neither teams’ bats were shy, with Manchester coming out swinging in the first inning.
The Squires tacked on three runs in the opening frame.

“Manchester has been swinging the bat really well,” Hisner said.
But the Wildcats weren’t going to give in. Whitko went on to score four runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead — for good.
