SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Whitkoâ€™s baseball team came off a win over Triton Tuesday to fall to Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday night, 6-0.
The Vikings got 10 hits, eight against Whitko starting pitcher Alex Stoddard. Stoddard recorded four strike-outs, three errors and gave up four runs.
Colin Nicodemus and Wes Gensch each went 1-for-2 at the plate, getting Whitkoâ€™s two lone hits.
Tippy Valley scored three runs in the third inning, and one-per inning in the fifth, sixth and seventh frames.
Win over Triton
Whitko beat Triton Tuesday night, 9-5. The Wildcats scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away with the win.
Ethan Nicodemus pitched all seven innings with six strikeouts and one error. He gave up seven hits and five runs. Nicodemus also led in hitting, going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIâ€™s.
Colin Nicodemus scored Whitkoâ€™s first run in the first inning off a wild Triton pitch.
Whitkoâ€™s Alex Stoddard found home plate in the fourth inning, scoring on a single by Zach Snep.
Triton took its first lead in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs to make the score 3-2.
Colin Nicodemus got his second of three runs on the night in the fifth frame after teammate Josh Kessie was walked. Ryan Weigold also found home plate, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Stoddard.
Whitko tore the game open in the sixth, with Weigold, Ethan and Colin Nicodemus and Wyatt Wolf all scoring off hits by Weigold and Ethan Nicodemus.
Triton attempted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two, but Whitko closed out the seventh frame with another run by Colin Nicodemus off a walk by Austin Mort.View more articles in:
