SOUTH WHITLEY — The Wildcats are getting hot at the right time of the season.
That is the key, according to many coaches, to basketball success. Whitko’s boys team may be finding that fact, as the Wildcats won their third game in a row Saturday, which was also the third straight Three Rivers Conference victory.
Whitko defeated Manchester by a final score of 50-48 in an afternoon tilt in South Whitley. Dylan Cumberland and Alex Stoddard were the leading scorers for the Wildcats, with each player netting 12 points. Stephen Bennett also chipped in 10 points. Cumberland also had 12 assists to complete the double-double. As a team, Whitko shot over fifty percent from the field.
Whitko now has a record of 5-12 on the season. The Wildcats finished the Three Rivers Conference slate of their schedule with a final mark in the league of 3-4. The Wildcats will finish the year at fifth place overall in the league standings.
Whitko has back-to-back games coming this week. The ’Cats have a Friday night road game at Fort Wayne Wayne, which will begin at 7:45 p.m.
