CHURUBUSCO — The year 2012 made for impressive seasons by the Churubusco boys and girls track and field teams. Each had at least a dozen team wins. Both won their home invites. Each had an athlete reach the state finals.

In 2013, the Eagle and Lady Eagle tracksters will look to the same man that led them to such a successful performance last year.

Head Coach Zach Dock returns for his seventh season as leader of both the girls and boys track and field teams.

Dock holds a winning resume with ‘Busco, having a 64-16 overall boys record in his six years with the organization. With the girls squad, he’s amassed a 47-28-1 record during those six seasons. Dock has only had one losing season with each of ‘Busco’s boys and girls teams, both in 2007, his first year at the school.

The 2013 girls track and field team will be looking to build on an impressive 12-4 2012 campaign. To do that, Dock believes the 2013 Lady Eagles must come together.

“We need to develop a family-like atmosphere,” Dock said.

This year, the girls team will be without some key 2012 graduates.

Thrower Heather Monk was a state finalist last season in shot put and discus. She placed sixth in the state in discus. Monk’s longest throw in the event was 133 feet, 9 inches.

Monk is now a collegiate thrower at St. Joseph’s College, where she is the top shot-putter on the team.
