Yolanda Ruyle, 85, of Columbia City, died at 7:23 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since April 2014.
She was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Nazzareno and Rosina (Cococetta) Milioni. She graduated from Detroit East Commerce High School and Baptist Bible College.
A U.S. Navy Reserve veteran, she served during the Korean War.
Aug. 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to George C. Ruyle. They made their home in Detroit, Mich. and later Ontario before moving to Columbia City July of 1974, where George began pastoring at Faith Baptist Church. Rev. Ruyle died June 29, 1994.
Yolanda served as secretary in the attendance office at Columbia City Joint High School from 1976 until 1988.
She was a member of Tri Lakes Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include two children, Rebecca Ruyle of Columbia City and Timothy Ruyle of Roseville, Mich.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine (Dorman) Ray of Sterling Heights, Mich. and Ann Bailey of Sterling Height, Mich.; and two brothers, Frank (Winifred) Milioni of Farmington Hills, Mich. and Gene (Dorothy) Milioni of Tecumse, Mich. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers.
The memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 709 West Business 30, Columbia City, with the family receiving friends after 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. The burial will be at a later date in South Park Annex Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Kidney Foundation or Baptist Bible College.
