Little Turtle recognizes its honor roll students

COLUMBIA CITY — Little Turtle Elementary School recently announced those students who have achieved honor roll status for the third trimester.
It also named students who earned honor roll status throughout the entire 2012-13 school year.

Water main work finished

Water main work on Frontage Road, Columbia City, was completed Tuesday.

Pictured are Todd Coyle as he prepares for Cory Dear to dump gravel into the cement.

Frontage Road was closed for two days at the intersection of Ind. 109 while this project was completed. All traffic exiting Frontage Road had to use Ind. 9. All businesses on Frontage Road were connected to the new water main the city laid.

This was the final phase of the project, finishing the connection point at the intersection of Frontage Road and Ind. 109.

Photos sought depicting longest day of the year

WHITLEY COUNTY — Whitley County residents are gearing up for the official start of summer and the longest day of the year — Friday.

To commemorate this unique day, The Post & Mail will be publishing a special photographic publication in July documenting the activities of Whitley County residents on the longest day of the year.

This is an open invitation to photography enthusiasts as well as shutterbugs of all types.

Opening ceremonies on tap for Turtle Days

CHURUBUSCO — Turtle Days will kick off tonight for all residents interested in taking part of the annual tradition.

“The Beast of Busco Returns” is the theme for the 2013 celebration, which will hold its opening ceremony tonight at 6 p.m. at the entertainment stage at Churubusco’s town park.

The introduction of royalty will also take place at 6 p.m. at the entertainment stage.

A junior karaoke competition will commence at 6:30 at the entertainment stage, and the adult competition will start at 8 p.m.

METH SUSPECTS IN COURT: Pair pleads not guilty to mobile lab

COLUMBIA CITY — A pair of individuals arrested for having a mobile methamphetamine lab had their first court appearance Monday.

Braidon Hall, 19, of Columbia City, and Mitchell Bradley, 37, of Garrett, were booked last Wednesday after a routine traffic stop turned up an mobile meth lab, allegedly belonging to the pair.

Medical issues were a concern as well. Bradley allegedly had a medical seizure at the scene last Wednesday, and had one Monday after the pair pleaded not guilty in Whitley County Circuit Court.

Hall and Bradley both said they intend to hire private attorneys.

An open invitation has been issued to Whitley County residents to photographically document their life – one day only – on the longest day of the year, this Friday, June 21.

Photo submissions to this special Post & Mail project will be placed in a unique newspaper publication to be published in mid-July.

“A Day in the Life of Whitley County” will herald slice-of-life happenings in our county community, such as community events, family outings, work-related activities – just about anything imaginable.

Though summer break began late for many Whitley County Schools this year, youngsters are still taking full advantage of what the parks have to offer.
