Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter, 72, a South Whitley native, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Huntington a daughter of John Phillip and Elsie Marcell (Householder) Wuertley. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley.
She was employed at Chamberlin Products from 1963 to 1968 and Gripco from 1970 to 1976, then moved to Broomfield, Colo. where she was employed at the Coors Ceramic Company in Golden. In 2000, she moved to the New Braunfels area, working at Hill Country Resort from 2006 to 2009. On May 17, 2009, she married Charles E. Harter.
Her memberships included Grace Memorial Church in New Braunfels, First Baptist Church while in South Whitley and “Classy Ladies” Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Charles; eight children, Debra S. Jackson of Columbia City, James R. (Jana Allison) Jackson Jr. of Puckett Miss., Lorie A. (Michael) Schroeder of Northglenn, Colo., Kimberly L. (Richard) Thompson of Glendale, Ariz., Scott W. (Kamala) Hollon of Surprise, Ariz., Xocil Ratliff of New Braunfels, Michael Harter of New Braunfels and Beth (David) Schone of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law, Pamela K. Jackson of South Whitley; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl E. (Susan) Wuertley of Evergreen, Colo.; two sisters, Helen M. (Ken) Baker of Jefferson, Colo. and LaVonna J. (Joel Cox) Harper of Thorton, Colo. and sister-in-law, Delois Hollon of Glendale, Ariz.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley with visitation after noontime Monday at the funeral home. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
