COLUMBIA CITY — A potential need for a new high school in the Whitley County Consolidated School district (WCCS) does not necessarily mean that the academic performance of the current students is not to be overlooked.
U.S. News recently released its list of the best high schools in the nation and also gave honors state-by-state. While Columbia City High School was not one of the three schools in the state given a gold medal by the publication, it did perform well in some of the metrics used in the study.
The high school scored above the Indiana average for college readiness. That figure is based on Advanced Placement test performances at high schools.
CCHS also scored as near the Indiana average in algebra and English proficiency.
