FORT WAYNE — Three Columbia City students were named winners for the 2013 edition of the PBS Kids GO! Young Writers Contest for the Fort Wayne Region.
In the first-grade category, Amelia Porter, of Columbia City, took third place for her submission entitled, “Jonathan’s Pancake Party.”
Taking second place in the in the second-grade category was “Rosabell’s Orphanage Surprise,” written by McKayla Adair, of Columbia City.
In the third-grade category, Emily Mullett, of Columbia City, took second place for her story, “The Sleepover.”
This contest, annually coordinated by WFWA PBS39, Fort Wayne, allows area students in grades kindergarten through third grade the opportunity to write and illustrate their own stories, then enter them in competitions held at local public libraries through their classroom.
This contest began in January of this year and concluded at these local levels on April 25.
Entries were then submitted to PBS39 from throughout northeast Indiana and were judged Thursday.
These winners and their families will be recognized at a special winner’s reception to be held at PBS39 tonight at 6:30 p.m.
There, each of the winners will be awarded their prizes and certificates.
