COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man, arrested in February for multiple methamphetamine charges, pleaded guilty in Whitley County Circuit Court Monday.
Derek Kohut, 29, admitted his involvement in manufacturing methamphetamine, which is a Class B felony.
Kohut’s guilty plea was part of a plea arrangement. Senior Judge Mike Rush, who was in court in place of an absent Judge James Heuer, said he would leave it up to Heuer as to whether the plea agreement would be accepted or not.
Six other charges against Kohut will be dismissed upon acceptance of the plea agreement.
A B felony carries a sentence range of 6-20 years. Part of the plea deal was placing a cap on the sentence at 10 years.
