COLUMBIA CITY — Chris Loft, 28, is a body mechanic by day and a youth mentor by night.
He doesn’t view himself as anything extraordinary, but to The Center for Whitley County Youth, Loft is an outstanding volunteer.
At the annual benefit cook-off for The Center, Loft was awarded one of the Volunteer of the Year Awards.
“I am at The Center almost every day,” Loft said. “I have the luxury of working a job that allows me to be there shortly after school to volunteer. I don’t see it as an obligation, but a privilege to invest in the lives of these students.”
Loft came to Columbia City approximately a year ago. His best friend and The Center’s Program Director Todd Blanton, lured Loft into devoting his time to teens.
