NEW HAVEN — “Elated is an understatement to describe my feelings after the meet.”
Needless to say, Columbia City Head Coach Bob Fahl was pleased with his team’s performance at the New Haven sectional girls track meet Tuesday.
“Everyone we anticipated to qualify for the regional made it,” Fahl said. “There were no disappointments.”
The Lady Eagles placed second as a team, only topped by Bellmont, 156-106, in a field of 11 teams. Whitko’s girls also competed, placing seventh overall.
Whitley County had its strongest showing in the 400-meter dash, as four of the top eight places were garnered by local athletes.
Megan Deutsch of Columbia City took second, Josie Sparks of Whitko placed third ahead of Columbia City’s Carlee Hearld in fourth. Miranda Terrill of Whitko came in eighth.
