CHURUBUSCO — Trash bids were opened at the Churubusco Town Council meeting Wednesday night.
Four bids were submitted to the council, including Whitley Environmental, the company contracted to collect Whitley County’s recycling.
According to Madalyn Bartl, the town’s clerk-treasurer, residents currently pay a monthly rate of $13.08 for trash pick up. The town’s current contract is with Republic Services, doing business as National Serv-All.
Bids were requested to include a three- and five-year option. Council President Frank Kessler read off the proposed price for the first year of service.
Cost from the current contract holder was $7.15 per household for both optioned time frames.
