SYRACUSE — Those in attendance at the baseball game between Columbia City and Wawasee Tuesday night were treated to a high-scoring affair.
The Eagles managed to come out on top of the Warriors 13-12.
The contest was back-and-forth, as there were eight lead changes.
The deciding run wasn’t scored until the top of the seventh inning, when Eagle first baseman Zac Steinke hit an RBI single that drove in senior Derek Hinen from second. That run broke a 12-12 tie.
Pitcher Ryan Kerschner retook the mound for the bottom of the seventh to finish out the game.
After getting the first two batters he faced out, Kerschner sweated the last out of the game after walking one Wawasee batter and giving up a single.
