COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County was one of just 26 in Indiana to be recognized for working to increase college success.
This honhor came from Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education, Teresa Lubbers. Counties recognized were all members of Indiana’s College Success Coalition.
Columbia City High School Principal Jennifer Reiff, who wrote a grant proposal to assist her district in this area said at first, the focus was on her building, but the gaze soon widened.
“We focused to see what activities we were doing to help students get to college,” she said. “If it was money (the students needed), or helping them get a diploma, we were helping.”
Reiff mentioned the web site, learnmoreindiana.org, which says its mission is to help students plan, prepare and pay for college.
