COLUMBIA CITY — Dan Ryan, district chairman of the Rotary Foundation, was the guest speaker Tuesday at Columbia City’s Rotary Club.
Ryan has been in this position for 10 years. He said it has been his “privilege to see many international projects receive Foundation grants to do such wonderful things in literally dozens of countries.”
From water wells in Africa to schools in Latin America to potable water tanks in dozens of villages in Mexico, Ryan has played a part in all of them.
The Rotary Foundation grants, District grants and individual club money, all join together to provide life saving clean water to thousands of people all over the world.
It has been stated that water-born pathogens are responsible for the majority of premature deaths in third world countries.
Rotary’s International projects unite local clubs with partnered Rotary clubs overseas to provide clean potable water for the population.
