COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s sole radio station, WJHS 91.5 FM The Eagle, recently announced its community programming schedule for the summer.
On the docket are live broadcasts from three popular local events: the American Legion parade during Old Settlers Days, the City of Columbia City’s Fourth of July Celebration and the Whitley County 4-H Fair.
WJHS Station Manager Michele Creech is getting her team and students ready to cover these events.
“(WJHS Engineer) John Corbin and I have been at the radio station almost since it started about 25 years ago,” said Creech. “We know a lot of the basics, but we’re tweaking and figuring out the remote locations for these events.”
WJHS will announce the American Legion parade from the grandstand located near the Courthouse.
Parade coverage will be broadcast live on the radio as well.
The American Legion parade is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.
In addition, WJHS will have a booth at the Old Settlers Days festival which patrons can visit. The booth will be open during the evenings of Tuesday through Friday.
