Thelma R. Linsmeyer, 80, a resident of Columbia City, passed away, peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning, Sept. 19, 2010 at her home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1930 in Eaton, a daughter of Clarence L. and Rosemary Carder Tharp. Her formative years were spent in Eaton where she graduated from high school in 1948. In 1978, she received an associate degree as a licensed practical nurse in Fort Wayne.
On Jan. 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jack A. Linsmeyer and they made their first home in Eaton, then Huntington for ten years and in 1969 moved to Columbia City, where her husband was a partner in the operation of the S & L Truck Stop.
Mrs. Linsmeyer was a homemaker.
She enjoyed doll collecting, sewing and crafting. She was a member of the American Federation of Doll Clubs, the Fort Wayne Doll Club and the Eastern Star Purity Lodge 126 in Eaton.
The surviving relatives include her husband, Jack; two sons, Roger (Minda) Linsmeyer of Fort Wayne, Bruce (Rhonda) Linsmeyer of Avon; grandchildren, David, Sam and April Linsmeyer, Amy Webb, Zach, Ben and Abby Allen; and a brother, Cecil Tharp of Eaton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Gina McClatchey; a brother, Francis Tharp; and a sister, Celia Castelo.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford Street, Eaton with visitation after 10 a.m. Thursday. Visitation will also be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. The burial will be in the Garden of Memory in Muncie.
Preferred memorials are Humane Society of Whitley County.
