COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City senior Seth Kissinger is stepping off the football field and putting on his running shoes this fall.
After playing most of his high school career with the pigskin, he made a tough decision to leave the squad and join cross country this fall.
“It was a hard decision,” Kissinger said. “I had to ask myself what the better option was for my future.”
Kissinger took on the 800-meter run last spring in track and wanted to make running a more year-round practice to increase his chances of a scholarship.
“I thought I could go on to run in college,” Kissinger said. “I have two friends who are runners (Evan Harney and Brenden Zoltek) and they really pushed me into it. I’m really enjoying it — loving it actually.”
