SOUTH WHITLEY — According to Whitko boys varsity soccer coach Jason Ehrman, it takes a series of steps in order to reach your goal.
Following his team’s loss to Lakeland Christian Academy Saturday, 4-1, he told his team the same thing.
Ehrman said the ‘Cats did everything he asked of them except for putting the ball in the net.
“We are much further along, and to be honest, I didn’t think we could play and possess the ball the way we did,” said Ehrman.
At 23:37 in the first half, junior Radonja Pesic drilled a shot from the middle of the field to put the visiting Cougars on the board 1-0.
Six minutes later, at 17:14, Whitko’s midfielder Daniel Kirkham was successful on a penalty kick to knot the score at one a piece.
“I know we came up short but I thought the guys played a heck of a game. I reminded them not to get discouraged and that we are going to work hard at getting the ball in the net.”
According the Ehram, his team hustled and played hard and dominated two-thirds of the contest.
