WABASH — Whitko’s cross country teams placed in the middle of the pack at the Northfield Invite Saturday.
Whitko’s boys came in fifth out of 10 teams. The Wildcats had 161 points, 10 behind fourth-place Southwood.
Oak Hill was the winner for the boys with a total of 38 points, 15 ahead of runner-up Angola.
In the girls race, the Lady Wildcats had 144 points to take sixth.
Host Northfield was the winner for the girls with 61, just four ahead of second-place Oak Hill.
Whitko next competes at Warsaw Tuesdsay.
COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s girls soccer team lost to a conference rival Saturday.
Visiting Norwell downed the Lady Eagles 3-1 in Columbia City.
The Lady Knights opened a 2-1 lead after the first half and then added a goal in the second half to bring the contest to its final margin.
Columbia City will play at Homestead Tuesday.
MANCHESTER — Whitko’s girls golf team took third place in a four-team meet at Sycamore Golf Course.
The Lady Wildcats had a score of 222, just one point behind second-place North Miami.
Manchester won the meet with a score of 214. Tippecanoe Valley came in fourth with 232.
Whitko next plays at West Noble Tuesday.
LAFAYETTE — Churubusco’s volleyball team fell in the opening round at the Lafayette Central Catholic Invitational.
The Lady Eagles lost to the host-Lady Knights by a score of 25-12, 25-14.
‘Busco will take on Columbia City Tuesday at home.
GAS CITY — Whitko’s girls soccer team picked up its second tie of the season Saturday.
The Lady Wildcats played Mississinewa to a 1-1 score in Gas City.
According to Whitko Head Girls Soccer Coach Gary Sims, rain delays and restarts made for an unusual contest for both sides.
Whitko is now 1-1-2 for the year and will play Tuesday against Bremen.
