COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City woman received a six-year jail sentence for aiding in a drug deal.
Savannah Hartman, 20, was arrested in June for aiding or causing the dealing of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Whitley County Circuit Court Judge James Heuer gave her a six-year sentence to the Whitley County Jail Monday, with the entire time to be served.
“You will be transferred to work release as soon as possible,” Heuer said. “If you do well at work release, you may have your sentence modified in the future.”
Hartman participated in a drug deal in June. That event took place in the parking lot of Walmart in Columbia City.
Hartman said the prescription of 35 pills of oxycodone was written to her, but Krystal Thornsbearry, the other party involved, picked the pills up and sold them. The two were planning on splitting the profits.
Case reports state Thornsbearry met a person at a laundromat, where the buy was arranged. After the transaction, officers arrested Thornsbearry.
