WABASH — Whitko’s volleyball team lost in four sets to Wabash Tuesday.
The Lady Apaches beat the Lady Wildcats by a final of 25-22, 25-11, 17-25 and 25-18.
Whitko was led in kills by Maddie Gawthrop, who had 14. Emily Day led in aces with three and Elaine Warner had 34 assists.
The Lady Wildcats will next play at Columbia City Monday.
DECATUR — Columbia City’s boys tennis team lost 3-2 to Bellmont Tuesday.
Niko Rongos got a win for the Eagles at No. 1 singles, beating Evan Seiking 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to improve Rongos’ record to 12-1.
Blake Fearnow grabbed a Columbia City win at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Bellmont’s Austin O’Campo beat Dillon Reed, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 1 doubles, Matt and McKade Kennedy of Columbia City lost to Logan Baker and Ryan Okoniewski, 6-1, 6-3.
Bellmont won No. 2 doubles by forfeit, which proved to be the decider.
Columbia City will play at Homestead tonight.
MONROEVILLE — Churubusco’s boys tennis team fell to Adams Central Wednessday.
The Flyin’ Jets beat the Eagles 5-0.
In No. 1 singles, Cody Luttman of ’Busco fell to Jacob Weil, 6-1, 6-2. In No. 2 singles, Derek Bowyer lost for the Eagles to Erick Ripley of Adams Central, 6-1, 6-3.
Adams Central won at No. 3 singles by forfeit.
In No. 1 doubles action, Luke and Landon Lillmars lost to Ben Kaehr and Conner Lengerich of Adams Central, 6-4, 6-0 and Landon Pearson and Brandon Norris of Churubusco lost at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
Overall, ’Busco now has a 5-7 record and is 3-4 in the conference.
Churubusco has the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament Saturday at Lakeland and travels to Whitko Monday.
FORT WAYNE — Churubusco’s boys tennis team picked up a win against Fort Wayne North Side Tuesday.
The Eagles beat the Redskins 3-2.
Luke Lillmars won at No. 1 singles for ’Busco in a 6-4, 6-2, straight-set victory over Teddy Hesterman of North Side.
It was a straight-set win at No. 2 singles as well for the Eagles. Landon Lillmars beat R.J. Casido 6-1, 6-0.
Cody Luttman and Derek Bowyer took No. 2 doubles for the Eagles, beating Maung Thaumi and Nate Keiser of North Side in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
In No. 1 doubles, Landon Pearson and Brandon Norris lost for Churubusco, 6-2, 6-2 to Brett Jones and Wes Stark. The Redskins took No. 3 singles by forfeit.
