COLUMBIA CITY— A man who robbed the Columbia City Walgreens in 2012 pleaded guilty in Whitley County Circuit Court Monday.
Troy J. Fritz, 31, pleaded guilty to robbery, a Class C felony, as part of a plea arrangement, which stipulated that the state would dismiss a charge of theft against him.
Fritz will be sentenced Dec. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
A Class C felony has a maximum sentence of eight years and a minimum of two, with four years being the advisory sentence.
Case reports state Fritz stole Opana and Fentanyl by threatening the use of force in February of 2012.
Fritz admitted in court that he walked to the pharmacy section of the store and handed a note to the person on duty.
The note said, “You have 30 seconds, and no one gets hurt,” to comply with his demands.
He was initially arrested for the crime in January of this year.
