Carl A. Reaser, 62, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.
Born Feb. 26, 1951, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Ferdinand W. Reaser and Elda P. (Johnson) Price.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 1968. After his training, he was sent to Da Nang Vietnam where he was wounded. After his recovery, he was stationed in South Korea and German before being discharged in September of 1974.
He retired from Weatherhead after 31 years before taking a job with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department as a security guard at the Whitley County Courthouse for four additional years.
He was a member of the VFW Post 5582, the American Legion Post 68 and the Eagles Lodge Aerie 1906.
Surviving relatives include his son, Craig (Charlene) Reaser of Columbia City; brother, Howard (Marilyn) Reaser of Howard, Ohio; grandchildren, Jaccob, Matthew and Michael Reaser, Gladys Kain, Merissa Perry, Jerrica and Jeremy Hearvey; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand W. Reaser; mother, Elda P. (Johnson) Price.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating.
Funeral honors will be rendered by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans at the funeral home. Private entombment will take place at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
