COLUMBIA CITY — Red kettles are almost as popular of a sight during the holiday season as Santa.
Salvation Army kettles are placed at various retail locations around the county in an effort to raise funds for the nonprofit.
Money collected during the nationwide campaign goes toward helping those in need through a variety of programs.
The national fundraising goal is $3 million, which according to the Salvation Army’s website, the organization has only reached 31 percent in its efforts.
