SOUTH WHITLEY — An intense Rochester squad denied host Whitko a victory on the wrestling mat Thursday.
The Wildcats dropped a 45-30 dual to the Zebras.
There were two Whitko wins by fall. Zach Baughman got a first-period pin for the Wildcats at 170, downing his opponent in 1:20.
The other pin for the ‘Cats was at 113, where Dalton Hite got the win by fall in the first period.
Other winners for Whitko included Tom Werstler at 138, Jack Hall at 106 and Tanner Hughes at 182, all of whom won by forfeit.
Whitko Wrestling Head Coach Frank Bumgardner said Rochester came into the dual with an intense attitude.
“Rochester came in tonight and I thought they wrestled really hard,” he said. “I told Clint (Gard), their coach, that their intensity tonight was pretty impressive.”
With that in mind, Bumgardner still said the Wildcats could have been more successful.
