COLUMBIA CITY — Several inches of snowfall Saturday, coupled with dry conditions and blowing winds caused schools to close Monday.
All three Whitley County school districts were out for the day, as many county roads were drifted shut Monday morning.
Another closure may mean that the school year will be extended into summer break, as many districts were closed for an entire week after Winter Storm Ion hit Jan. 5.
While many were without water and power, and many more weren’t able to drive on snow-covered roads for several days during the winter storm, officials worked night and day to ease Winter Storm Ion’s blow on Columbia City residents.
