LARWILL — Police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery at the Swifty Gas Station in Larwill this week.
On Tuesday night, police say a man robbed an undisclosed amount of money from the station, located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Ind. 5, at 1160 N. Ind. 5.
The robbery occurred Tuesday at 9:45 p.m., in the middle of a storm that dumped a foot of snow on Whitley County.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Spencer said officials had to battle slick, snowy roads en route to the robbery, and were unable to catch the suspect Tuesday night.
Though the weather slowed response time, Spencer said he was able to obtain valuable evidence — shoe prints in the snow, and he is also following leads as to the identity of the suspect.
Spencer said the suspect approached the gas station attendant, who was cleaning bathrooms, and demanded money, displaying what was described as a handgun.
The man then fled from the station and headed northwest, toward Kosciusko County.
Spencer was assisted by the Indiana State Police, along with deputies from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
There were no injuries at the scene.
